The Chair TP1 of Fakulty of Physics and Astronomy is looking for a 

PhD student (m,f,d), for 3 years with 29,87 hours per week (TVL E13)

The Institute for Theoretical Physics I of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (Bochum, Germany) invites applications from candidates (m/f/d) with interest in multi-scale plasma processes (magnetic reconnection, turbulence, instabilities), and in innovative numerical methods for the simulation of plasmas.

Your tasks:

  • Investigation of magnetic reconnection in relativistic plasmas
  • Model development
  • Code development

Your profile:
The candidate should be familiar with at least some of the following

  • (Relativistic) plasma physics
  • Numerical methods for the simulation of plasmas, preferentially kinetic
  • High Performance Computing
