Researcher in Machine Learning for Superconductivity (m/f/x)

The chair focuses on the development and application of artificial intelligence methods for the design and understanding of materials. It is located at the interface of several fields of knowledge, such as engineering, physics, chemistry, and computer science.

Development of a calculation framework, including standard density functional perturbation theory calculations and the development of machine learning models. for discovering new superconductors in the large database “alexandria.”

Your tasks:

  • Development and training of machine learning models for superconductivity
  • Design and implementation of high-throughput searches for new superconductors, supported by insights from quantum geometry.
  • Collaboration with groups involved in the SuperC-2033 project. Participation in SuperC-2033 events.
  • Writing scientific articles and presenting research results at conferences and workshops.
  • Participation in the preparation of grant applications.

Your profile:

  • At the time of hiring, possession of a Master degree in physics, theoretical chemistry, computational materials science, or related fields.
  • Advanced programming skills (preferably in Python).
  • Experience in high-throughput methods using ab initio techniques
  • Experience in machine learning
  • Solid knowledge of quantum mechanics and theoretical solid-state physics.
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to collaborate with other team members and experimental staff.
  • We will give preference to curious and creative young researchers who are highly motivated to help shape the direction of the project.

    The position is salaried and based on the collective agreement of the Länder (TV-L). If the personal and collective agreement requirements are met, the employee will receive pay grade E13 TV-L.

    If the position is funded by third-party funds the employee has no teaching obligation.
