The Chair of Experimentalphysik I - NRW-FAIR at the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy is looking for a 

PhD Student Position in Particle Physics (LHCb Group) (m,f,x) for 3 years with 26,2878 hours per week, TV-L E13

The LHCb group at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, newly founded within the framework of the NRW-FAIR network, deals with hadron spectroscopy, which is part of fundamental research. Our projects are centered on the spectroscopy of hadrons, with a keen interest in the identification and study of exotic states.

The main task is to engage in physical analysis with LHCb data.

Your tasks:

  •  Investigations into the properties of tetraquarks and pentaquarks
  •  Spectroscopy of charm baryons
  •  Search for glueball candidates in central exclusive production
  • supporting activities in the development of the read-out electronics for the upgrade of the SciFi detector

Your profile:

  • A Master's degree in physics
  • Proficiency in programming, statistical methods, fitting/optimization
  • Fluency in English (Non-EU candidates require a language certificate >=B2)
