The Collaborative Research Center “Episodic Memory” (CRC 1844) is an interdisciplinary research consortium bringing together researchers from psychology, computational neuroscience, philosophy, and neuroscience. It comprises 18 subprojects led by 22 principal investigators across six universities and is coordinated at Ruhr University Bochum (RUB). CRC 1844 investigates episodic memory—the ability to remember specific events from one’s personal past—from multiple disciplinary perspectives. A central goal of the consortium is to communicate research on episodic memory and its relevance beyond the scientific community, foster dialogue between science and society, and to develop innovative educational and participatory formats for engaging different target groups with research on episodic memory.
We are seeking an Outreach Coordinator to lead the strategic development, implementation, and coordination of outreach and science communication activities within CRC 1844. As the central point of contact for outreach, the coordinator will work closely with researchers across the consortium to communicate research on episodic memory to diverse audiences and foster dialogue between science and society. As a member of the coordination team they will develop and implementt public engagement and educational activities, support citizen science initiatives, coordinate the CRC’s digital presence, and collaborate with internal and external partners to strengthen the visibility and societal impact of the consortium’s research.

We are committed to providing a supportive work environment for female researchers and those with young children. Our university provides mentoring and coaching opportunities specifically aimed at women in research. We have a strong research network with female role models and will provide opportunities to meet with them. Wherever possible, events will be scheduled during regular childcare hours. Special childcare can be arranged if events must be scheduled outside of regular hours, in case of sickness and during school or daycare closures. Where childcare is not an option, parents will be offered a home office solution. We strongly encourage applications from qualified women and persons with disabilities.
The position is salaried and based on the collective agreement of the Länder (TV-L). If the personal and collective agreement requirements are met, the employee will receive pay grade 13 TV-L.
