Research associate (f/m/d) for the development of a multiphysics simulation model for high-performance materials (PhD Position)

The Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) is one of Germany’s leading research universities, especially renowned in the field of engineering sciences. The Chair of Materials Engineering (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Weber), part of the Institute for Materials, focuses on the study of high-performance metallic materials. Our research emphasizes the relationship between manufacturing processes, microstructure formation, and material properties. With the ongoing digital transformation of materials science, simulation, data-driven models, and AI-based methods are gaining increasing importance. We integrate these approaches with advanced experimental techniques to achieve a comprehensive understanding and targeted optimization of materials. We benefit from a state-of-the-art infrastructure, enabling everything from sample preparation to high-resolution microstructural analysis. In addition to research, we are actively engaged in teaching and industrial knowledge transfer—thus building a bridge between scientific excellence and practical application.
