The Faculty of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum invites applications for the position of a Professor W3 (m/f/d) in Biochemistry commencing October 1st 2026.

We are seeking an internationally recognized researcher addressing cutting-edge biochemical questions using experimental approaches. The successful candidate is expected to apply and/or develop modern biochemical and, in particular, cell biological methods for the observation and functional analysis of physiologically relevant processes, thereby complementing the existing research activities within the faculty. The professorship is expected to strengthen the faculty’s focus on biochemical processes at the cellular level and to set new impulses through collaborations with other disciplines. Active participation in existing and planned research networks within the Faculty of Chemistry and Biochemistry is expected, as well as collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, the Research Department of Neuroscience, the Protein Research Department, and the Cluster of Excellence RESOLV.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute fully to the teaching of biochemistry across the faculty’s study programs.
