The Chair of Photonics and Ultrafast Laser Science at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology is looking for a 

research associate (m,f,x) for the RayVen project until 30/06/25, 39,83 hours per week, TVL E13

RayVen is a startup, manufacturing lasers and dedicated to push boundaries of short-wave infrared laser technology. RayVen is a spin-off from the chair of Photonics and Ultrafast Laser Science in Ruhr University Bochum, granted from Bundesministerium (EXIST-FT) in January 2024. Our mission is to revolutionise the industry by developing innovative laser solutions for various applications in the field of micromachining of semiconductors and plastics. Your tasks:

  • Participate in the prototyping, assembling, and testing of laser systems
  • Ensuring compliance with quality standards
  • Collaborate with external partners and vendors to source components and materials.
  • Document engineering processes, specifications, and test results
  • Use of management tools
  • Provide regular progress and maintain timelines

Your profile:

  • Master's degree or PhD in ultrafast laser technology
  • Experience with femtosecond lasers is mandatory
  • 1-2 years of experience in laser market
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically in fast-paced situations
  • Good knowledge of Python
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Professional knowledge of English, basic knowledge of German is welcome
  • Ability to work in an environment of constant growth, innovation and unknowns

Additional information:

EXIST Transfer of Research project ends on 30.06.2025. An extension is planned, as well as transition to second project phase and spin-off of a company.
