research assistant / PhD Student (m,f,x) in micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) research for 3 years, 39,83 hours per week, TVL E13

The Chair for Microsystem Technology, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, explores innovative microactuators and microsensors from basic research to application-specific solutions. Projects are performed in a broad cooperation with researchers and industrial partners.
The technological implementation is performed in our 700 m2 cleanroom facility equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Our research projects include the investigation of new concepts for electrostatic actuators, self-sufficient sensors and systems for THz applications, their simulation and design as well as their realization and characterization. The research is performed in a cooperative team of excellent scientists and highly skilled clean room specialists.

Your tasks:

  • specification of concept, design and simulation of MEMS-based actuator and sensor systems,
  • realization of functional samples in a silicon-based MEMS technology in our cleanroom facility,
  • measurement and characterization of realized samples,
  • responsibility for state-of-the-art cleanroom equipment,
  • cooperation with internal and external partners,
  • participation in teaching and preparation of project proposals,
  • presentation of reports, presentations, and journal articles.

Your profile:

  • excellent Master / Diploma degree in electrotechnics, mechanical engineering, microsystems technology or corresponding fields, preferentially with skills in technology,
  • inspired by microsystem technology, microoptics, microfluidics, RF-MEMS and / or Si-based processing,
  • highly motivated team player,
  • keen on systems engineering and joined-up thinking,
  • advanced communication skills in English (German is very welcome, too).
