The Chair of Experimental Physics I - NRW-FAIR at the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy is looking for a

research associate (m,f,x) until 31 July 2026 (end of project), 39,83 hours per week, TVL E13

We are pleased to announce an opening for a Postdoctoral Research position in Hadron Physics group of Ruhr University Bochum within the LHCb experiment (http://lhcb.cern.ch/) and NRW FAIR (https://nrw-fair.ep1.rub.de/) network. Our group's primary research areas include experimental physics and phenomenological analysis, with specific projects focusing on multiquark states and exotic phenomena of strong interaction. We are involved in technical aspects of the data analysis such as partial wave analysis, coupled-channel models, phenomenological models, as well as fitting techniques, and machine learning. Complementarily, the group is engaged in operational tasks for the Scintillating Fiber (SciFi) tracker as well as a development of the Mighty Tracker for the future upgrade of LHCb. This is a two-year position, with a potential for extension. For further information of position, please contact: Mikhail Mikhasenko (mikhail.mikhasenko@rub.de)

The Ruhr-Universität Bochum is one of Germany’s leading research universities, addressing the whole range of academic disciplines. A highly dynamic setting enables researchers and students to work across the traditional boundaries of academic subjects and faculties. To create knowledge networks within and beyond the university is RUB’s declared aim.

The Ruhr-Universität Bochum stands for diversity and equal opportunities. For this reason, we favour a working environment composed of heterogeneous teams, and seek to promote the careers of individuals who are underrepresented in our respective professional areas. The Ruhr-Universität Bochum expressly requests job applications from women. In areas in which they are underrepresented they will be given preference in the case of equivalent qualifications with male candidates. Applications from individuals with disabilities are most welcome.
