The Chair of Philosophy of Language and Cognition of the Faculty of Philosophy and Educational Science is looking for two

Scientific Researchers (m/f/x) in the "Reframing Episodic Memory Within its Proper Bounds"- project, for 18 months, 25.8895 hours/week, TV-L E13

The Chair of Philosophy of Language and Cognition is part of the largest and most research-active philosophy departments in Germany. Within the university, we are closely networked with researchers from the cognitive and neurosciences as co-speaker of the interdisciplinary DFG research group Constructing Scenarios of the Past, as member of the Center for Theoretical and Integrative Neuro- and Cognitive Science THINK, the Center of Mind and Cognition, and as PI of the PhD research training group Situated Cognition.

The position will be part of our DFG research group "Constructing Scenarios of the Past" in the project P3 "Reframing Episodic Memory Within its Proper Bounds" (https://for2812.rub.de/projects/p3/). It has a research focus in the philosophy of memory and language with strong ties to the cognitive and neurosciences. Applicants are expected to strengthen their research focus in the area of philosophy of memory and language and to publish in relevant journals (also as co-author). They are willing to to participate in interdisciplinary activities of the research group, to contribute to the writing of project proposals, to participate in the organization of workshops and conferences, and to be involved in academic self-governance. Virtually all job-related activities (including teaching) can be done in English. German language skills are not required.

Your profile:

  • You have an MA, MSc or PhD in philosophy, cognitive science, or a related discipline.
  • You can document your interest in the philosophy of memory and/or language by a strong publication record
  • You are willing to work in an interdisciplinary environment.
