The Center for Religious Studies (CERES) is looking for a 

research associate (m,f,x) for 11 month, 9,9575 hours per week, TVL E12/13

The Center for Religious Studies (CERES) is a central scientific institution of the Ruhr-Universität. It initiates and coordinates religion-related activities in the areas of research, teaching, promotion of young scholars and knowledge transfer. The Zoroastrian Middle Persian Digital Corpus and Dictionary project (MPCD:, project no. 452473565) combines research in religious studies, philology and linguistics. It prepares a corpus of around 54 texts, containing some 700,000 words in transliteration and transcription. The texts will be supplied with a morphosyntactic annotation.

The MPCD is looking for a research associate with a MA or PhD degree to join our team and support the workflow of the philological annotation of Middle Persian texts. The scope is 9,9575 hours per week. The time allocation is by arrangement, considering the time requirements of the research associate.

Your tasks:

  •  indexing manuscripts
  • annotation of the texts according to the standards of Universal Dependencies

Your profile:

  • a Master or PhD degree in Iranian Studies, Linguistics, or a similar discipline.
  • basic knowledge of Middle Persian
  • good knowledge of English and/or German
  • flexibility, reliability and ability to work as a team member, possessing excellent communication skills
