The Chair of Networked Energy-Efficient Systems is dedicated to advancing autonomous, energy-efficient cloud-based networks that support cutting-edge services and innovations. We are assembling a talented international team committed to pioneering research and teaching in this dynamic field

The successful candidate will engage in groundbreaking research aimed at integrating GenAI approaches with the IBN paradigm to create zero-touch, intelligent, adaptive, and efficient network M&O systems, supporting the future of mobile communications. This is a full-time (39.83 hours/week) position with immediate availability.

Your tasks:

  • Research and Development: Conduct innovative research on GenAI-driven M&O systems tailored for next-generation mobile networks,particularly focusing on Intent-based network M&O.
  • Algorithm Design: Develop novel algorithms and models that leverage GenAI to translate high-level FCAPS intents into automated and optimized network configurations and policies.
  • Simulation and Testing: Implement and test the envisioned GenAI-driven M&O solutions in simulated environments, followed by validation in real-world testbed to ensure robustness and scalability.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and engineers to design and validate GenAI-driven M&O solutions for optimizing FCAPS operations.
  • Publication and Presentation: Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present at international conferences and symposiums to disseminate knowledge and advance the field.
  • Project Management: Assist in the management of research projects,including the preparation of reports, grant proposals, and progress updates.
  • Teaching Assistance: Help with teaching courses related to clouds and networks, contributing to curriculum development and providing support to students.
  • Event Organization: Support the organization of online webinars,events, workshops, and conferences related to the Chair's activities.

Your profile:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science,Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Prior publications in renowned transactions, journals, and the proceedings of reputable conferences are highly desirable and advantageous.
  • Good analytical skills and relevant experience in any of the following:mobile network management, cloud-native platform orchestration,network security, mathematical optimization, and machine learning.
  • Proficiency in machine learning and AI methodologies, including Transformer modeling, GenAI, and Large Language Models (LLM)s.
  • Expertise in programming languages (Python, C/C++, Java), AI/ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, JAX), LLM frameworks (e.g., LangChain),network simulators (e.g., ns-3, OMNeT++), and cloud environments(Kubernetes, OpenStack).
  • Knowledge of 5G and beyond communication standards and technologies is highly desirable.
  • Ability to independently design, execute, and analyse experimental research.
  • For Postdoctoral Position, demonstrated experience in conducting high-quality research with a solid publication record in relevant areas.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in GenAI and its applications for FCAPS operations.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven network management and orchestration.
  • Knowledge of security issues and performance requirements in 5G and beyond networks.

    The position is salaried and based on the collective agreement of the Länder (TV-L). If the personal and collective agreement requirements are met, the employee will receive pay grade E13 TV-L.
