The Chair of Photonics and Terahertztechnology at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology is looking for a
The main focus of PTT‘s research is on semiconductor lasers. Starting from material science aspects, like investigations of new semiconductor materials and spintronics, we are heavily involved in the exploration of the semiconductor laser dynamics, and in applications of semiconductor laser systems in optical imaging and Terahertz (THz) Technology.
Within the Reinhart-Koselleck project “Electrically injected spin-vertical cavity surface emitting lasers for ultrafast data communication” we search up to three research associate positions. The tasks include research in the field of Optoelectronics, in particular on spin-controlled lasers. Moreover, the handling of third-party funded projects (research- and development work, preparing and presenting project reports, mentoring of bachelor and master students and student assistants) will be part of the scope as well. In cooperation with partners, vertical cavity surface emitting laser structures with electrical spin injection will be designed, fabricated and analyzed experimentally and theoretically. Part of the fabrication work will be at our partner Technical University of Berlin.

The Ruhr-Universität Bochum is one of Germany’s leading research universities, addressing the whole range of academic disciplines. A highly dynamic setting enables researchers and students to work across the traditional boundaries of academic subjects and faculties. To create knowledge networks within and beyond the university is RUB’s declared aim.
The Ruhr-Universität Bochum stands for diversity and equal opportunities. For this reason, we favour a working environment composed of heterogeneous teams, and seek to promote the careers of individuals who are underrepresented in our respective professional areas. The Ruhr-Universität Bochum expressly requests job applications from women. In areas in which they are underrepresented they will be given preference in the case of equivalent qualifications with male candidates. Applications from individuals with disabilities are most welcome.
