The successful candidates will work in the Algebraic Combinatorics research group of Prof. Christian Stump within the project "Machine learning combinatorial statistics and maps" funded by the German Research Foundation ( The project is part of the DFG priority program "Combinatorial Synergies" (

Your tasks:

  • Research in Algebraic Combinatorics.
  • Computer explorations using mathematical software such as SageMath.
  • Generation and analyzation of mathematical data such as
  • Application of machine learning techniques to mathematical data.
  • Active participation and coorganization of events of the research group and the priority program.
  • Collaboration with other researchers in the field, nationally and internationally.

Your profile:

  • Applicants are required to have an academic degree (completed M.Sc.) in mathematics or a related field.
  • Knowledge in a research area related to the research group in Algebraic Combinatorics as well as knowledge of machine learning techniques and interest in computer-aided explorations.
