The Chair of Theoretical Chemistry II of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biochemistry is looking for

Doctoral students (m,f,x) for 3 years, 19,915 hours per week, TVL E13

The research group of Prof. Jörg Behler at the Research Center Chemical Sciences and Sustainability offers as soon as possible part-time positions for doctoral students.

Applications are invited for PhD positions (3 years, payment according to public service’s salary agreement: TVL E13, 50%), which are available immediately or upon mutual agreement. We are a leading group in the development of machine learning potentials and their application to various topics in chemistry and materials science. The projects will involve the development and implementation of advanced methods to represent high-dimensional potential energy surfaces employing neural networks. Moreover, atomistic simulations of various systems like complex materials, interfaces or chemistry in solution will be performed.

The Ruhr-Universität Bochum is one of Germany’s leading research universities, addressing the whole range of academic disciplines. A highly dynamic setting enables researchers and students to work across the traditional boundaries of academic subjects and faculties. To create knowledge networks within and beyond the university is RUB’s declared aim.

The Ruhr-Universität Bochum stands for diversity and equal opportunities. For this reason, we favour a working environment composed of heterogeneous teams, and seek to promote the careers of individuals who are underrepresented in our respective professional areas. The Ruhr-Universität Bochum expressly requests job applications from women. In areas in which they are underrepresented they will be given preference in the case of equivalent qualifications with male candidates. Applications from individuals with disabilities are most welcome.
